WE NEED YOUR HELP
President's Message
By Jim Pace, H.E.A President
|
We all need to pull together. The Hesperia Education Executive Board is pleased with the way the campaign has been going. We appreciate the tremendous support we have received from the communities, fire fighters, and other agencies. There are only two other things that you can do to help make this election a success.
1.) We will be having Sign Rallies on October 30, November 4, and November 5 from 4-6 p.m. See the flyer for further details.
2.) On Saturday, October 25; Sunday, October 26; Saturday, November 1, and Sunday, November 2; we will be placing door hangers around the community. We need you to meet at the Hesperia Education Office in the Von's Shopping Center on Main Street.
I want to thank everyone for all their hard work. Your support will make a difference in this election.

A BREATH OF FRESH AIR
Claudia Ethun Secretary
|
The two candidates endorsed by HEA for the upcoming School Board Election are Helen Rogers, a retired teacher from Hesperia Unified School District and Bruce Minton, a local attorney.
Helen has taught for 38 years and is extremely interested in focusing her attention on the needs of the students.
|
Bruce is a product of Hesperia schools and believes that because this community invested in him,
he would like to give back to his community by serving on the school board.
These two people are a breath of fresh air, and deserve our help and support.

Insurance Premium Refund
As you are aware, we have been overpaying on our insurance premiums since we signed with the High Desert Inland Employee Employer Trust. The District has been charging us over $71.00 tenthly when in fact, our premium is actually under $47.00 tenthly. Consequently, HEA has been informed that teachers will be receiving this difference refunded. According to district sources, teachers' refund will be included in their November check. If you have insurance premiums deducted from your paycheck, verify that you have received your refund.
Deductible Information
If you met all or part of your deductible from Blue Cross, you need to fax your last EOB (Explanation of Benefits) to High Desert Inland Employee/Employer Trust (Lisa Stanson) at: 909-798-9811. If you do not Fax this information, the deductible will not be applied to your Blue Shield deductible. Once your EOB is received, it could take up to 45 days to get credit to your Blue Shield account. Our deductible with Blue Shield is $200.
Our Current Prescription Plan
Our last plan gave us all prescriptions at the same price. We now have generic, formulary, and non-formulary prices. The prices are ($10, $15, $30 PPO)and ($5, $10, $25 HMO). Remember that all generic drugs are similar in ingredients but are made by many different companies.
|
Don't forget to have your doctor write "DAW" (Dispense as written) if your prescription is for a name brand drug. Otherwise, you will automatically receive a generic equivalent. Non-formulary drugs are drugs which are not listed on the generic or formulary list. Prescriptions for non formulary drugs may need pre-authorization to get approved. To check if your drug is on the formulary list, go to:
mylifepath.com. If you have any trouble, call Lisa Stanson immediately at 909-924-4494 ext. 224
Mail Order Prescriptions
Express Scripts has the best price for maintenance medication. You can receive a 90-day supply of medication for two co-payments.
For more information, visit: http://www.express-scripts.com/
If you are using the Express Scripts Mail Order Prescription Program and the drug you need is non-formulary, your doctor may have to authorize the prescription by calling Express Mail directly. Express Mail may not notify you about the prescription delay for weeks. For questions call or e-mail Blue Shield at (800) 200-2342 or visit www.hesperiateachers.com and click on insurance tab and then on the Blue Shield icon.
STRS Counselor
You may make an appointment with John Crump to counsel you about retirement. You don't have to be ready to retire to meet with him. Call (760) 242-6300 and make an appointment.
